On the other hand, the date calculated from his age at death is 3 May 1823, and his gravestone also gives 1823 as the year of birth (see below). Other censuses make him 27 in 1850 [1850 cen., Logan co., OH, 7], 36 in 1860 [1860 cen., Hardin co., OH, 349], 46 in 1870 [1870 cen., Hardin co., OH, 385v], and 57 in 1880 [1880 cen., Hardin co., OH, 96A]. Based on this evidence, it would be hard to chose between 1823 and 1824.
