The Dickinson-Staines-Craven connection

The connection between the Dickinson, Staines (or Stones), and Craven families follows routinely from the following records:

• The parish registers of both Thornton Dale and Wykeham record the marriage on 2 December 1656 between George Staines of Thornton, dyer, and Elizabeth Dickinson of the parish of Wykeham [Thornton Dale PRT; Wykeham PR]. (The Thornton Dale registers give Elizabeth Dickinson of Langdayle in the parish of Wycombe.)
• The parish registers of Thornton Dale then record the baptism of Ann Staines, daughter of George Staines of Thornton, on 19 January 1657[/8], followed soon after by the burial of Elizabeth Staines, wife of George of Thornton, on 28 January 1657[/8] [Thornton Dale PRT].
• The will of Henry Dickinson on 17 December 1680 mentions his granddaughter Ann Stones, daughter of George Stones, deceased. Among those witnessing the will is William Craven [PCY 59: 11, FHL film #99,589; see the page of Henry Dickinson for a transcript of the will].
• The parish registers of Wykeham record the marriage on 20 March 1680[/1] of William Craven and Ann Staines [Wykeham PR].
• The Dickering Act Book records an administration on 13 January 1684[/5] of Elizabeth Dickinson alias Stones of Landon Bridge by her daughter Ann, wife of William Craven [Dickering Act Book, fol. 95, FHL film #100,032].

It is clear from excellent fit of these records that George Staines and George Stones were the same person.
