In the very early 1800's, William Consitt migrated with his family from the parish of Hackness in the North Riding to the parish of Market Weighton in the East Riding. The move is most clearly documented by the birthplaces given for his son Edward in the censuses (see below).

[Market Weighton PR] Edward Consitt appears in the 1851-71 censuses of Market Weighton. In the 1851 census, he was aged 59 and his birthplace was listed as Hackness [fol. 520v]. In 1861, he was listed as 68 with birthplace Broxa (a village within the parish of Hackness) [fol. 35r (p. 33), FHL film #543,152]. In 1871, he was 79 years old with birthplace Hackness [fol. 33r (p. 31), FHL film #847,330]. His will (transcribed below) was dated 7November 1876, and proved 27 February 1877.

I William Consit of the Parish of Market Weighton in the East-Riding of the County of York Farmer being of sound & disposing Mind & Memory but mindful of my Mortality, do make & ordain this my last will & Testament in manner following Whereas I & my son Thomas Consit are joint Tenants of the Farm in our Occupation in the Parish of Market Weighton & have a joint Property in the Stock & Crop upon the said Farm I do give & bequeath all that my half part of the said Stock & Crop unto my wife Mary Consit, charged nevertheless & I do hereby charge all such my half part with the Payment of the Sum of Fifty Pounds which I give & bequeath to my son Edward Consit, & which I will shall be paid to him at the expiration of two years from the Time of my Decease, I give all my share of the stock of Timber to my son Thomas Consit, & charge him with the Payment of whatever may be owing for the same. All the residue of my personal Estate (after <paying> all other my just Debts funeral expences the expence of proving this my last will & the Legacies above bequeathed) I give to my wife Mary Consit whom I appoint sole executrice of this my last <will> & do hereby revoke all former wills by me heretofore at any time made - In witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand & seal this sixteenth day of the Month of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirteen. Will of Dickinson Consitt of Burnniston, dated 21 December 1859, proved 14 April 1860.

I Dickinson Consitt of Burniston in the County of York Farmer do this the Twenty first day of December In the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty nine make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say I give devise and bequeath unto my Wife Betty Consitt all my money Securities for money goods chattels estate and effects of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever the same shall be situate at the time of my death for the term and end of her natural life And at the death of my said Wife I give devise and bequeath the above mentioned money Securities for money goods Chattels Estate and Effects in the following manner that is to say To my Daughter Mary Stonehouse the legacy or Sum of Three hundred Pounds To my Son Robinson Consitt the legacy of Sum of Two hundred Pounds my said Son having previously and during my life time received at my hands an additional Sum of One hundred and fifty Pounds over and above the said legacy now herein bequeathed to him And as to the rest residue and remainder of my Estate and effects after payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expences I direct that the same shall be equally divided between my Daughter Mary Stonehouse and my Son Robinson Consitt Share and Share alike And I nominate constitute and appoint Tindall Sleightholm of Burniston Schoolmaster and Henry Halder of Cloughton Farmer the Survivors or Survivor of them and the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor to be the Executors of this my last Will and Testament And I hereby declare that my said Executors and the Survivor of them and the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor shall and may at all times reimburse and indemnify themselves and himself respectively all such Costs charges damages and expenses as they or either of them may at any Time expend lay out or be put unto by reason of all or any of the trusts hereby in them reposed And hereby revoking and making void all former or other Wills by me at any time heretofore made I declare this to be my only true last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Dickinson Consitt have to this very Will Set my hand the day and year being Just within written the word Stonehouse being first interlined instead of Consitt. This is the last Will and Testament of me Edward Consitt of Market Weighton in the County of York, Farmer, I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate whatsoever unto and equally between my son John and my daughter Elizabeth absolutely as tenants in common but as to such part or parts thereof as may be vested in me as mortgagee or trustee upon the trusts and equities affecting the same And I appoint my said son and daughter joint Executor and Executrix of this my Will I hereby revoke all prior testamentary dispositions In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this seventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy six.
